That Summer

Poetry prompt: Write a haiku sonnet. It’s basically four haiku and a couplet comprised of 7-syllable lines.

That scalding summer
I bloomed in your blazing arms
as the world wilted

that scorching summer
in soporific slumber
we burned together

that sizzling summer
in a wildfire set alight
by desire taking flight

that searing summer
flaming limbs undoused by the
cool rippling river

Still vivid scenes filmed by a
young heart that soulful summer
