Just Mom

Panicked
Many sleepless nights
spent rocking you
in my arms

Countless colic-stricken
hours pacing grooves
into the floor

Million seconds
sponging your
fever-ridden limbs

Several panicked minutes
of losing you
in a packed bookstore

Steady hands that held,
then let go, the bicycle you
triumphantly pedalled

Anxious eyes
raking the street
awaiting your return

Eager ears listening
for your footsteps
outside the door

Trembling tears
sliding down my face
when you left

Heart always filled
with love for you
no matter where you are

All this I am, and more
To you, I am just Mom
