Waiting Never Ends

It’s the waiting
It never ends

Just as the rain
you wished for
now drips down
relentless

Like the interminable
silence, stretching
to fill the years

Trapped, you wait
for a word, a phrase,
a conversation,
even an outburst,
a thunderstorm
to clear the air
a ray of desire
to rekindle lost passion

But when it comes,
unexpectedly,
it is not the blaze
of the sun
It is the moon’s
silver light

So you wait
for if you let yourself
be bathed
in its coolness
One kind of waiting
may be done

But it will be
the start of
another kind

For, the waiting,

it never ends
