Everything Changes

one more autumn wrinkle
mars summer’s smooth countenance

one less strand of black
gives way to a moon-white streak

Everything evolves

Does my love evoke January’s chill
in the October of our life
Or do you recall June’s blazing rays
in my cool touch

Everything is different

Our birds have flown to warmer climes
yet we tend winter’s empty nest
Dawn’s silence continues past noon
words cease to fill starry skies

Everything changes
in the tropics

except the weather
