If The Mask Slips

Dipped in bitter
a smile sparkles
like steel polished
with tears
Unseen in the sheen
unhappiness lurks
in the shadows
of a bright disposition
Even the sun need not shine
when the moon steps in
But if I let my mask slip
the world will know
I am a pretender
