Never Alone

Solitude now overflows
in its abundance
edges out my shadow

It spills from my eyes
pools at my feet
makes a silent splash

Though I try to shake it off

it clings to my skin
A blanket to lie on
as I gaze up at the sky

tickling my bare legs
when blades of grass
are loath to disturb my reverie

It treads into my thoughts

though it is no angel
lighting the darkness
Making me the fool

for I welcome its invasion
An invisible friend at my side
when all else has forsaken me

I could not live alone now
